Mary MacDonald

Wife of Alexander, a soldier.

Embarked 16 Aug. 1737; arrived in the Georgia Colony 31 Oct. 1737.


Capt. Hugh MacKay

Was Lt., now Capt. in Olglethorpes Regiment.

He had a grant of 500 acres mage him 24 July 1735.

He quitt the Colony and the Regiment on not being promoted to Major of the Regiment in 1740.

Embarked 14 Oct. 1735; arrived in the Georgia Colony Feb. 1735-6.


James MacKay

Age 40, of Durnes, a farmer.

Embarked 20 Oct. 1735; arrived in the Georgia Colony 10 Jan. 1735-6.

Slain or made prisoner at Moosa June 1740. Left a wife and 4 children.


Barbara McLeod

Age 36. Alive at Darien with her 4 children 6 May 1741.


Barbara MacKay

Alive at Darien 6 May 1741 but said then to be only 11 years old.

(There is a descrepency in the records regarding her age. The ship's manifest indicated she was 17 in Oct. 1735 but a census done in May 1741 indicated she was 11.)


Donald MacKay

Age 9. Alive at Darien 6 May 1741.

(The age listed could be from the ship's manifest or from the 1741 census of Darien, hence the difference in potential birth years.)


Jeanne MacKay

Age 6.

Hugh MacKay

Born in Georgia. Alive at Darien 6 May 1741 and then 1 year old.

(No mention of parentage in the original record. However, the record for James MacKay indicates that he died leiving a wife and 4 children, but the record for them lists only three children. Hugh's birth date and location in Darien in May 1741 make him a good candidate for the missing 4th child.)

Lot 55 in Savannah. Took possession of his lot 21 Dec. 1733. His father, quitting Josephstown, his country grant, lives here with his son.

Absent 24 Feb. 1736-7.
