Lot 16N in Frederica.


Richard Pyka

Lately a Trust servant.

Lot 14S. in Frederica.

Formerly at Amelia in the Trustee's service but in 1738 busy improving his 5 acre lot till taken off by Col, Oglethorpe to settle at a watch house 3 miles by water and 1½ by land from Frederica on the river to stop runaways.

He married a Freeholder's daughter and is allowed 6# of meat & 6# of bread a week. He was maimed in the Trustee's service.


Robert Retford

Servant to Joseph Wardrope.

Arrived in the Georgia Colony 1 Aug. 1734.

Lot 194 in Savannah. On expiration of his service, this lot was granted him in April 1737.

Dead June 1738.

His widow married John Goldwyre who lives with her on this lot.

Age 25, butcher, Swiss

Embarked 29 Sept. 1741; arrived 4 Dec. 1741.

He paid his and his wife's passage.

George Roan

Arrived in the Georgia Colony April 1734.

Lot 145 in Savannah.

Bund over for assault 8 April 1734. Again fined for assaulting an officer on duty 1 June 1734. Again fined for assault 20 Feb. 1734-5. A beggar because of his drunkeness. Kept a licentious tipling house.

Runaway in 1738.

Arrived in the Georgia Colony 4 Jan. 1733-4.

Married George Roan 10 Aug. 1734.

Judith Sykes

On the 1st ship load of Georgia colonists, The Charity.

Age 29; Re-marry'd to Tho. Cross 29 June 1734 and quitted the Colony with him. Quitted Dec. 1738

(The record for Fra. Sykes indicates she is the mother of Judith. I have made the assumption that Judith's maiden name is then Sykes though it is possible that it is not.)

The record for Thomas Cross indicates he married the widow Judith Clark. This Judith is the only choice for him to have married.


Charles Philip Rogers

A minor; son of Judith Cross.

Lot 48 in Savannah. His lot was granted 21 Dec. 1733. In 1738 there was only 1 acres felled. He lives with his mother, Judith Cross on lot 22.

(I have assumed that Charles is the child of an earlier marrige by Judith.


Alice Ryley

Servant to Richard Cannon.

Arrived in the Georgia Colony 10 Jan. 1733-4.

An Irish transport.

Condemned for the murder of William Wise, her master, 1 Mar. 1733-4.

Hanged 20 Jan. 1734-5.

Deborah Potter

One of the daughters married Jo. Goldwyre but the record does not indicate which one.
