1920 Oseola Co, MI Federal Census:

James is on this census working as floor grader at a flooring mill. He lives with his third wife Ione (26), James Kenneth (11) son of Florence, Ivan Hugh (8) son of Florence, and Audrey Janet (6) daughter of Florence. James still lives on N. Elm St. apparently in the same house he lived in on the 1910 census. James gives his year of naturalization as 1893.

According to Robert McInnis, son of James Kenneth, James Harry was a very gentle father.

On the 1920 Census, James Harry lists his trade as Grader in a flooring mill.

JANET MCINNIS IS TAKEN SUDDENLY
DIES OF HEART ATTACK IN BIRMINGHAM,
SERVICES THURSDAY AFTERNOON

Miss Janet McInnis,daughter of Harry McInnis of this city,passed away in Birmingham about 3 o'clock Monday afternoon of a heartattack. Miss Janet was seized with a heart attack while at work in anoffice and died shortly after being taken to a physician's office.
Miss Janet McInnis was born to Mr. and Mrs. McInnis inReed City on September 12, 1913, and departed this life on January 25,1937, aged 23 years, four months and 13 days.
After attending the local public schools she was latervariously employed in Birmingham and vicinity the past three years.
Surviving are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry McInnis;four brothers, Kenneth, Ivan, Robert, and Harry, Jr. all of Reed City;and her grandfather, John Bradshaw of California: besides otherrelatives. She was preceeded in death by her mother, who died in 1918.
Funeral services will be held at the Crocker & McDowellfuneral parlors Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Lloyd D.Welton, pastor of the Baptist church, officiating. Interment will bemade at Woodlawn cemetery.

Janet was reported to have been a very unhappy young womanby brother Kenneth and many family members had thought she committedsuicide but her obituary shows that she died of a heart attackinstead.

According to Hugh's obituary, he came from Argyll, Scotland with his widowed mother at the tender age of one, to reside in Ontario.

1900 Oseola Co, MI Federal Census:
Hugh is living on Davenport St. in Reed City with wife Eliza (58), and children James H. (22), Harvey E. (19), Rosa (17), and Mary A. (15). All the children and Eliza were born in Canada. Hugh was born in Scotland. Hugh is working in agriculture in a nursery. James is a day laborer as is Harvey.

1910 Oseola Co, MI Federal Census:
In 1910, Hugh is living on N. Elm St. in Reed City. He is with wife Eliza (68), James Harry (32), working as a cigar maker, James' second wife, Florence (23), and grandson James K. (21 mo.). Daughters Mary and Rose are not with him. Son Harvey is living on Stimpson Av. with his wife and son Harold.

Obituary:
Hugh A. McInnis - Passed Away
Died at his home Wednesday after a short illness
Hugh Alexander McInnis passed to the great unknown at 5 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, March 20, at his late home in this city, after a short illness of only a few days with spasmodic asthma, aged 60 years, 9 months, 13 days.

Mr. McInnis was born in Argyle, Scotland on June 5, 1851. He came to this country the following year with his widowed mother and settled in Ontario. On March 23, 1875, he was united in marriage to Eliza Link in the township of Oro, Simcoe County, Ont. They moved to Cheboygan in 1888 and to Reed City in 1892, where the family has since resided.

The deceased is survived by the widow, two sons, Harry and Harvey, and a daughter, Mrs. F. Dodge of East Jordan.

The funeral services were held from the late home at 10 o'clock Saturday morning, Rev. E. Rath officiating. The pall bearers were A.P. Small, Herman Remanap, Wm. Vance, Will Thomas, Louis Mitchell, and Frank Fuller. The floral offerings were beautiful and showed the esteem in which the deceased was held.
Mr. and Mrs. F. Dodge and three children of East Jordan were in attendance at the funeral.
The family wish to express their heart-felt thanks to friends and neighbors for kindness and sympathy shown during the sickness and death of their husband and father.

On the lower corner of the same page of the paper containing the obituary is an article concerning a fire at the house on the day of the funeral.

BAD FIRE AT THE HOME OF THE LATE H. A. MCINNIS
LOSS IS ESTIMATE AT FROM $300 TO $400

A fire was turned in a 2:30 Saturday afternoon during the session of the republican caucus at the city hall. The fire boys were soon en route for the scene, which proved to be at the home of the late Hugh McInnis.The bereaved mourners had only returned from the cemetery a short time when the fire caught in the kitchen from a defective chimney, greatly damaging the kitchen, dinning room and bedroom. The fire destroyed the clothing of Mrs. F. Dodge and her two children, also that of Mrs. McInnis and the little son of Harvey McInnis. The building and furniture were insured for $700 while the loss is estimated at $300 to $400.

1900 Osceola Co, MI Federal census shows her living with her parents and siblings

Mary also is not evident on the 1910 Census. Where is she? She is not listed in the family bible either.

In Hugh's obituary, she is not listed either so I have concluded that she died 1900-1910


Ione Cecelia Lemont

Ione had brothers Edgar and Max and a sister, Emma. According to Rita McInnis, Edgar was a surveyer by trade and lived much of his life in Alaska. He was quite an accomplished artist and she has a book of his drawings. In the 1920 Census, Ione lists no ocupation. Her father was born in the USA and mother and she in Illinois.
