Ben Franklin Sherrod

Obituary from the Savannah Morning News:
Ben F. Sherrod, 67, died Tuesday at Candler General Hospital after a short illness.
He was a native of Effingham County and had lived near Ellabell for the past 20 years. He was a retired employee of the City of Savannah. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Marie Wilson Sherrod of Ellabell; a sister, Mrs. Iler Purvis of Bloomingdale; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Lower Black Creek Primitive Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
Morrison Funeral Home is in charge.

Sherrod, Sr., 88, died Tuesday (March 12, 2002) at Satilla
Regional Medical Center following a short illness. He was a
native of Emanuel County but had resided most of his life in
Ware County. He was married to the late Willie Mae Edge
Sherrod and was son of the late Ben Sherrod and Lizzie
Murray Sherrod and was preceded in death by a son, Wesley
Sherrod, Jr. He was a retired farmer and attended Jordan
Methodist Church. The survivors include two daughters,
Thelma Sherrod Melton of Waycross, Betty Sherrod Manning of
Cocoa, Fla.; five grandchildren, David Sherrod of Waycross,
Debbie Sherrod Guy of Waycross, Kenneth Whitrock of
Medaryville, Ind., Kenton Dean Whitrock of Waycross, Brenda
Kay Manning Luzietti of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 16 great
grandchildren;one half brother, Luther Taft of Coffee
County. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday
in the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Jordan
Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the
funeral home Wednesday night from 6 until 8. Sympathy may be
