Mary (May ?)

Riley(24) and Mary(35) have a fine farm valued at $960. Riley is Mary's second husband. The children of the first husband, Martin Shuman, are living with them: William (18), Robert(16), Martin(14), Elizabeth(12), and Ellen(9). Also with them is the first child of their marriage, Celia A. Lewis, aged six months. They haveElijah Shuman (IRN355) on one side and Henry Shuman (IRN 377) on theother side of them.

A Mary Lewis shows up on the 1870 census at age 45 and living with Ellen Shuman (18) and George (?)(1), and Annie Lewis (13).This would appear to be the same lady. From the census data it would appear that Ellen is the child of Martin Shuman and Annie and George are the children of William Riley Lewis. Annie's age would imply that Martin died before 1856 and George's age would imply that William died in 1869.
