J. F. "Frank" Sherrod
J.F. "Frank" Sherrod, 79, formerly of 4335 Conrad Drive, Spartanburg, died Sunday, June 24, 2001, at Windsor House West. A native of Greenville, Ky., heSherrodwas the son of the late Roy Franklin and Etta Thornsberry Sherrod. He was a graduate of Lander College and was retired Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force. Before joining the Air Force, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor. He was a member of the Blinded Veteran's Association and was a Mason. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, Alyene Jolley Sherrod, of the home; two sons, Franklin Sherrod of Pendleton, and William R. Sherrod Sr. of Orange Park, Fla.; two sisters, Wanda Allen of Richmond, Va., and Barbara McDaniel of Burlington, N.C.; two half brothers, Roy F. Sherrod Jr. of Central City, Ky., and Howard Sherrod of Goldsboro, N.C.; a half sister, Emma Dean Sherrod, of Goldsboro, N.C.; six grandsons, Jeff F. Sherrod of McSherrystown, Pa., William H. Sherrod and Keith M. Sherrod of Houston, Texas, Edward E. Smith III of Summerville, Todd Smith of Portland, Ore., and Lt. William R. Sherrod Jr. USN, of Jacksonville, Fla.; and one great-grandson, Franklin Michael Sherrod, of McSherrystown, Pa. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. today June 29, 2001, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. today in the chapel, conducted by the Rev. Everett Foster. Burial will be at Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens. The family is at the home.Published in The Greenville News: 06-29-2001

Alyene Jolley Sherrod, 82, of Skylyn Place, died Monday, March 29, 2004, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital.She was the wife of the late J.F.
