Ellen shows up on the 1870 census with her mother, Mary, and Annie & George Lewis.
Warren Shuman
Warren shows up on the 1870 census of Bryan Cty., Ga. withwife Josephine and John, Albert, James, and Emiline. His farm isvalued at $200. He lives just 4 house away from his father. There isanother Warren E. Shuman in the census also married to a Josephine andwith son John and Albert whose ages are identical to this Warren's. Ichose this one because of the prosimity to the father's place.
Webster Tyler Shuman
1850 Bryan Co, Federal Census list Webster as 10 years old. This is not in accord with the Shuman Family Geneology by Earline Geiger, Carolyn Jarrard, EunaMae Futch & Aileen Knaebel which gives his birth date as 11 Apr 1849. I think the census is correct.
Webster shows up on the 1880 census next to his father and brother Frances B. His age is given as 40 which is either a mistake or he was uneasy about the age difference with his wife, Mary Ann. Their daughter, Laura, is 17.
Mary Ann Shuman
Description: living with her parents and siblings
Mary A.(80) is now living with daughter Laura who is oncemore a widow and grandson Lester. ary spells her name "Schuman".
Elijah E. Shuman
Description: living with his father, mother, and siblings
We find Elijah on the 1870 Census of Bryan Cty., Ga. withwife Serena, Ramon (3), Sarah(?), General (4 mo), Fereby? (100?).His farm is small with a value of $100. Fereby is a corruption ofPharabee. This is Pharabee Sauls, wife of Martin Henry. She is abt 97years old. Elijah is Martin Henry's grandson.
Serena (Cyrene) Cannon
Serena is living with the family of Jesse and Polly AnnNiemaus, visit #102. Her brother James is also there. Polly Ann isvery young, 32, compared to Jesse, 61. This probably means Polly waspreviously married to a gentleman named 'Cannon' who died and shesubsequently married Jesse. Thus Serena and her brother are thechildren of Polly and her first husband. We also have living in thesame household, Sarah Futch, age 67. This most likely indicates Sarahis Polly's mother, hense, Polly's maiden name is probably 'Futch'.Sarah appears to be Sarah Sheffield, wife of Rowan Futch.
General J. Shuman
The 1880 census shows General to be nine but since he wason the 1870 census, this is clearly and error.
Namelip? Shuman
The name is difficult to decifer on the 1880 census. Itmay be Nora.
William Dickerson Gray
William is the son of Nicey's father's sister.
