Note: the estate record of Bythel (Bithel) Staton, as abstracted by Joseph Watson: "Inventory and account of sale by Simmons B. Staton, admr., Nov. 20, 1834. The widow was the principal buyer...Division of negroes among the seven heirs at law, to wit: 1.) Simmons B. Staton; 2.) Joseph Higgs in right of his wife, Phenetta; 3.) Celicia Staton, the widow; 4.) Eli, Jack, and Elizur Harrell (Howell) in right oftheir mother, Tempy Harrell (Howell), dec'd., dau. of said Bythel Staton, dec'd.; 5.) Robert Staton, 6.) Benj. Staton, 7.) and Mary Staton, minor heirs of the dec'd., May 23, 1836. Division of negroes by commissioners among Robert Staton, Benjamin Staton, and Calvin Jones in right of his wife, Mary, Dec. 31, 1842."
