1840 Thomas Co, GA Federal Census:
William is living next to Sarah Futch (Sheffield) and is only two doors away from John Sheffield Sr. and 3 doors away from John Sheffield Jr.. That is why I think this is the William Shuman on the 1840 Thomas Cty. census. He married Martha Sheffield and Sarah Ann Sheffield who most likely are daughters of John's or one of his brothers. William's house hold is:
2 white males under 5
1 whitemale 10-15
1 white male 30-40, himself
1 white female under 5

William moved to Florida according to The Pioneers of Bryan Cty. If so, he must have moved back to Thomas Co, GA soon after.
He is supposed to be buried in the Shuman Cemetery, Bryan County, (Now Area B-12 of Fort Stewart), Georgia (USA). However, he is not listed on the copy of that cemetery made in 1994.

Alexander McInnis
Hugh's marriage record:

Martha McInnis
Hugh's mother came to Canada in 1852-1853 according to his obituary. Her husband, Hugh's father, had died thus he must have died in 1851 or late 1850. It seems unlikely she would come to Canada alone,so must have come with parents or other kin either of her own or he rhusband's. There may also have been other children, i.e. brothers and/or sisters of Hugh.
Found Hugh's marriage record:
