Sherod McCall

DOCUMENTATION SOURCE; Mark Carpenter (email: mysouth@bellsouth.net) Taylors Creek, Story of the Community and Her People Through 200 Years", Bird and Paul Yarbrough, Editors, A Project of Taylors Creek Cemetery Association, Press of The Atkinson County Citizen, Pearson, Georgia, 1963. A copy of this book can be found at the Georgia Historical Society, Savannah, Georgia. This book has an updated and revised version printed in 1985. Pioneers of Wiregrass, Huxford, Volume 4, page 22 Pioneers of Wiregrass, Huxford, Volume 5, corrections and additions According to Huxford, Jesse was the son of Sherod. This is not true. Sherod was his brother. Note from Mark Carpenter: Just would like to point out a mistake that is often made concerning Jesse McCall and Sherod McCall. The Jesse McCall listed who married Mary Bird is the son of Thomas McCall and not Sherod. Sherod was this Jesse McCall's brother. This Jesse and his descendents moved out to Louisiana around 1810. Sherod McCall did have a son named Jesse, from whom I am directly descended. Sherod McCall moved with his family to Gadsden County Florida about 1820 (clearly after 1820). I have tons of information on this line and can back all information with sources such as Wills, Bible records, Etc. Mark

From Beautiful Zion, page 55 Mark Carpenter (email: mysouth@bellsouth.net) Israel Bird was in a dispute with James Bryan around 1800 over lands he and Jesse McCall had purchased from James Bryan.(From Beautiful Zion, page 55) According to Huxford, Jesse was the son of Sherod. Enoch Daniel

He was a Captain (probably in Civil War). The assumption has been made based upon information found in Taylor Creek Cemetery records that this is the Enoch that married Ann Elizabeth Bird.
