My GG Grandfather was William Sherrod born 1788 and lived in Halifax County NC, Enlisted in war of 1812 . Rcvd Ball in Hip and received land in Maury County TN , married Charlotte Miller of Va ( descends from Capt. Thomas Carter )in 1816 in TN had Children ( too many to name here) and moved to Washington County AR in 1835 where my G Grandfather Wesley Arthur Sherrod was born in 1836. He married Amanda Cannon in 1861. My grandfather was William Thomas Sherrod borb in Fayetteville AR in march 1880. I have information on this line from 1652 in Virginia (the Carter's) and this line descends from the Skipwith's, Dymokes and King Edward I of England. also includes Alfred the Great and Charlemagne.... If you have roots to the Sherrod's in Arkansas, I can probably help.

William Culwell

Post by Sherry to the Sherrod Family Genealogy Forum:
Joy- just a little update on one of the children of William and Charlotte Miller Sherrod: William V. Sherrod married Mary H. PHILLIPS about 1851-52. (My guess would be Madison Co., AR). Mary was the daughter of James and Patsy Rice Sanders Phillips. Their children were Allen James Sherrod, John W. Sherrod, W. Lafayette Sherrod and Samuel C. Sherrod. William V. died between 1858 - 1860 and Mary then remarried to William Culwell. That's all I have at this time on this family.
