James W. Edenfield

The first wife of James W. has always been a question but John, Elias, and Elizabeth shared in the estate of John Yeomans which was Martha Yeomans' father. There is no reason for this to happen except that Martha Yeomans was James W.'s first wife. Yeomans is also spelled Youmans. This information on Martha was provided by Gerald Hooks from Swainsboro, Ga.

Emanuel Co., Ga 1840, 1850, 1860, and 1870.
James W. was called Whiskey Jim. He was alleg- edly the first person in Georgia to receive a whiskey license.
