Arthur L. Sherrod

Posted to the Sherrod Family Genealogy Forum by Denalee Karr:
My husband's great-great grandfather was Arthur L. Sherrod (married and died in Fannin Co., TX). Arthur married Mary Ellen (possibly Covington) in 1886. I cannot find any more information. He was born in Dec. 1861 in Arkansas and census information shows both of his parents were born in Arkansas as well. I would really appreciate any help.

Arthur L. Sherrod, b. Dec 1861, Arkansas. He married Mary Ellen <Covington> in 1948 in Fannin Co., TX (I haven't been able to verify her last name). There children are 1)Earnest Sherrod b. 23 Oct 1887, Fannin Co., TX. d. 3 Nov 1887, Fannin Co., TX. 2) Myrtle Sherrod b. Sept 1888, Fannin Co., TX. Death unknown. 3) Ora Sherrod b. 5 Jul 1893. d. 9 Nov 1947, Grayson Co., TX. Married James V. Manor 1916 in Grayson Co., TX. 4) Ray Sherrod b. 28 Jun 1896, Fannin Co., TX. d. 13 Mar 1971, Fannin Co., TX. 5) Arthur Neal Sherrod b. 1 Jun 1899, Fannin Co., TX. d. 13 Fab 1967, Fannin Co., TX. I have no other information. Arthur L. Sherrod is my husband's gg-grandfather. My mother-in-law swears that many of the Sherrods in N.E. Texas were Indian. The census records I have found for this family indicate that they are all white, however, the reason I can't find any more information may very well be that the Manors in the N.E. area of Texas had an Indian heritage.
