John Isaac Sherrod married Lucinda Deliah Absher in Navarro County, TX abt 1887. Lucinda was born ca 1866 as per the 1880 Navarro County, census. Anyone have any info on this couple?

J.I. and Lucinda had 3 chilren; 1. Maudie Mae 2. Ella 3. William Arthur Maudie married Allen Plas Dunn and had 1 child, Johnnie E. Dunn (my father). Allen died during a flu epidemic and J.I. helped to raise my fater. I believe that J.I. lived for a time with a family named Marshall. We do not know if he was adopted or what the situation was. I also believe that his father was Robert Sherrod, but have no proof. I have one picture of J.I. and lucinda.

She is with him on the 1880 Census with my great- grandmother Laura C. Allen. You have given me a clue on their father and I will go from there. My great great grandmother was Mary Sherrod she was born in North Carolina in 1839. She married Joshua M. Bowman December 15, 1865 in Madison County Tennessee. She then married Isaac Flowers in 1878 moving to Faulkner County Arkansas dying there in 1911. Seeking information on her mother and father.

I have doubts about this connection. If this Mary is indeed Thomas' daughter then she could not have been born in 1839. Thus, this Mary may not be the one who married Jushua Bowman, etc.

My grandfather was Sidney Paul Sherrod, born more than likely in Emanuel County in 1897, though lived most of his life in neighboring Burke County. I believe his father's name was Bill, though I am not sure, as we have never actually been sure that there was a marriage between my great grandparents. Her name was Janie, but not sure of her last name. She later married a Brinson in Emanuel County and had 5 or 6 children, most of whom still live(d) in the area, I believe.
James Lafayette Sherrod

Chris, I believe James Lafayette Sherrod's parents were Henry Best Sherrod and Anna Cogdell Sherrod, and he was born in 1826 in Duplin County, NC, and moved to Henderson County, TN about 1830. His wife was Julia Holland, and our records show he died in AR in 1888. I can furnish you more information on Sherrods if you wish, including pedigree and siblings if you like.

my gg grandmother is Mary Rebecca Sherrod who married Andrew Barkley Creson (b. circa 1851). Mary was born in Arkansas. and from what you're saying i'm assuming that Henry Best Sherrod is the daughter of James Lafayette Sherrod. my Mary Sherrod became a Creson and then married a Williams and all of these families at one time or another were in White Co AR.
