I am interested in Salathiel SHERROD for two reasons. (1) He's the grandfather of Turner James SHERROD, who married Lucinda Elizabeth HAYWOOD, a daughter of Tillman HAYWOOD in DeSoto Co., MS. Turner and Lucinda (HAYWOOD) SHERROD removed to Phillips Co., AR. By 1880, Lucinda appears to have remarried a PALMER (per father's will) and her children are living with her siblings in White Co., AR. Seek descendants of these SHERROD children and whereabouts of Lucinda in 1880. (2) Salathiel appears to have strong ties to Martin Co., NC STATONs due to his daughter Betsy marrying a Harvey STATON and due to his LLEWELLYN ancestry, a family that also intermarried with the STATONs. This leads me to believe that Salathiel travelled to TN with other Martin Co., NC families (possibly including STATON and LEGGETT). When did he come to TN?? Who were the other families that came?? I also am wondering if the Thomas STATON found in 1830 census of Gibson Co., TN is none other than Thomas STATON, son of Jesse and Sarah (JACKSON) STATON of Martin Co., NC up through 1810. Disappears after about 1816. Were the STATONs found on the 1830 census of Gibson Co., TN all children of this Thomas?
Patience McKinnie
The data on Patience KcKinnie being married to Benjamin Sherrod is courtesy of Linda Leggitt Swystun. She also indicates the following:
My William Leggitt Jr's mother was married to Benjamin Sherrod, after Benjamin died she married William Leggitt Sr. In 1801 William Leggitt Jr. moved from Marolboro S.C. to Mury Co., TN with his family. William Jr. was born in Martin Co, N.C.. This must be the connection. I also wondered why they went to TN. Before leaving TN they also lived in Williamson, and Humphery Co., MS (Co. lines changing could mean they did'nt really move). There father William Sr. after his wife Patience death rode a horse from S.C. to TN to be with his 2 sons William Jr and Absolum and died there. William Sr. also had a son James who stayed in Marolboro and named some of his children with the name of Sherrod. Looks like William Sr. didn't only have his children in TN, but also step children there too? By 1820 William Jr. and his brother were in MS where latter they both died. One other thing a 2nd cousen of William Sr. was a LLewellyn Leggitt who moved from N.C. to TN and then moved to MS (he may have been in GA also on his way to TN). He was a minister and died in MS.However. The Virginia & North Carolina Genealogy Exchange indicates that Patience McKinnie was married to JAMES HOLDERNESS. Thus, Patience must have married James first, then Benjamin, then William.

Col. Barnaby McKinnie
I have placed all the children with Barnaby's 1st wife, Mary, as I do not know yet which ones may have been born to Barnaby & Mary Exum.
Jeremiah Exum
Jeremiah was a justice of the County Court of Isle of Wight County in 1693 and 1694.
