Ebenezer Bothwell was a cotton planter and member of House of Representatives, Jefferson Co, in 1817.
According to "The History of Lee County Georgia" Captain Ebenezer Bothwell was in command of Fort Early on the Flint River in 1 818. He was town commissioner of Louisville, 1827 ( History of St. George's Parish, by Marion Little Durden, Magnolia Press, Swainsbo ro, Ga 1983). Old records found in the old Capitol building also show Ebenezer being appointed trustee for Louisville Academy in 1827. In 1850 census, Mary and Ebbin are listed as being 58 years of age and owning land valued at $4000. ( p.156 in Jefferson Coun ty, GA). Moved from Jefferson County to Dooly County in 1850s, apparently after his wife's death (two of his sons, William C. and David J. were located in Dooly County during that time). Will dated March 1868 was made in Richmond County, Georgia. This will names son James T. Bothwell as executor and leaves property of lands and notes to benefit sons James T. Bothwell, Samuel E. Bothwell, David J. Bothwell and the sons of son William C. Bothwell. Found burial marker on private land (now a tree farm, owned by Mennonites) "Bothwell Cemetery" on Bothwell Road just outside (north) of Louisville,Jefferson County. This headstone gives his birth and death date. There were two other markers in this burial place, they were buried almost to the top - names or dates could not be seen.
