Second Will of Silvia Chisolm (page 326-327 of will Bk):
...daughter Mary Colley, land where on I now live...daughter Elizabeth sherrod...son William Tomlinson...grandsons Joseph and John Sherrod, land in Henry and Cherokee Ctys....friend Henry I Turner, Executor... Silvery Chisolm (X). wit J.P. Turner, JohnR. Clark, J.H. Turner.
It would seem reasonable to assume that Joseph and John were born after 1829 as they are not named in the first will. Granddaughter, Sarah is not mentioned in the second so she may have died or married. How did William's name change from Chisolm to Tomlinson?
In the book Family Heads 1805 Georgia, we find an ArronTomlinson, living in Jefferson Cty., d. 1828 at 68 yrs. with a note that his widow married a Chisolm. The connection is here but I don't quite see it yet. There are a number of other Tomlinsons mentioned in the book.

Sarah Sherrod
Sarah is mentioned in her grandmother's will dated 1829 but not in the revised will dated 1838 so it may be that she died during that time.

John King
His household consisted of 2 males under 5, 2 males 5-10,2 males 10-15, 1 male 20-30, 1 male 40-50 (probably himself), 1 femaleunder 5, 1 female 5-10, 2 females 15-20 (probably Sophia & Sarah), and1 female 30-40 (probably his wife). Based on this information, I haveextrapolated approximate birth and marrige information on thesepeople.

Unknown Sherod
Description: VA
Sophia's father John lived in Talbot Cty., GA at the timeof the 1830 census. Presumable, Sophia lived there also before thecensus. A Haywood Sherrard lives in Talbot Cty. also at this time andis the right age to be thinking of marriage. His household at thattime consist of a male child under 5, a female child under 5, a malebetween 20-30 (himself) and a female between 15-20, probably his wife.Having two children already would indicate they had been married atleast three years so we are looking at a wedding date before 1827.This is of course just speculation at this time 3-3-1998. Joel Sherrod Sherrard
Description: , a Negro girl names Rymer from Samuel Williamson, page 279 of the Book of Deeds
Joel appears on numerous records throughout Georgia in the early 1800's. He apparently won three times in various land lotteries, twice in the same lottery by spelling his name differently, Sherod & Sherrod. He somtimes also spelt his name as Sherard like Wright does.He apparently lived in Montgomery Cty. but had land in Talbot, Wilkes, Irwin, and Appling in addition to his holdings in Montgomery.
This record extends from the middle 17th century to the 2nd quarter of the 18th century, a very long time. Could this actually be two Joel Sherrods, father and son?
I have also noticed that often when a woman married, one of her sons would be given her family name as first name. This would emply a relationship between Sherod Whiddon and Sherod Hutson with the Sherrod family through daughters marring into those families. I'll have to look into this eventually.
In documents in Houston Cty., Ga. Deed Book "F", page 425 & 505, reference is made to Joel on 1-10-1834 and 11-25-1835 concerning the promissory note of 4-18-1826. In these references Joel's last name is spelt Sherrad.
On the 1830 census, Elizabeth, Haywood, And Wright (Sherrard) Sherrod are all living relatively close together. There is most likely a significant attachment here. I think Joel is also involved. I suspect that Haywood is the son of Wright. Joel and Wright are brothers and Elizabeth was married to another brother now deceased.
Wright Sherrod Sherrard
Description: according to documents filed with the 1820 Land Lottery
Description: the signing of a deed between Simeon Roberts and Thomas B. Stephens. This was also recorded in Pulaski Cty., Ga.
Wright Sherrard and Jesse Waters, Jr. advertised a sale ofsome assets of the estate of Saunders Sherrard.
Wright Sherrard and Jesse Waters apply for administrationon the estate of Sanders (Saunders) Sherrard, dec'd.
Description: a Justice of the Inferior Court
His household consisted of the following: 2 males under 5,1 male 30-40, 1 male 40-50 (probably himself), 1 female 10-15, and 1female 30-40 (probably his wife.) From this we can enfer birth andmarriage ranges.
Wright appears in several records of the time and was aJustice of the Peace in one county. He most often spelled his nameSherard but in the 1820 Land Lottery spelled it Sherod. He is oftenassociated with Joel Sherod and I suspect they are brothers. SimonSherod was in the same areas in the period from 1789 to 1798 and thendisappears. He may be their father.
On the 1830 census, Elizabeth, Haywood, And Wright(Sherrard) Sherrod are all living relatively close together. There is most likely a significant attachment here. I think Joel is also involved. I suspect that Haywood is the son of Wright. Joel and Wrightare brothers and Elizabeth was married to another brother now deceased. I also thing there is a connection with Alexander Sherrod who was grantd land in 1749. He is probablysimon and Joel's father.
On Jan. 1st 1833, Wright received mail at the Talbot Co, GA post office indicating that he was thought to reside in that county at the time.
