Notes
Robert Sherrod Sherrard
From page 523 of Newspaper Clippings of the Southern Observer, issue of March 6th, 1816:
Also, one lot of land lying in the 19th district Wilkinson, now Pulaski County, No. 55, taken as the property of JAMES THOMPSON... levied on by JOHN MAYO, constable, and turned over to me by the late Sheriff, to satisfy an execution in favor of Robert Sherod.
This would suggest that Robert was still alive at that time, hense died between March 6th and May 7th, 1816.
This comes from a clipping in the Southern Observer issue of May 15th, 1816 in which Elizabeth Sherrard and Wright Sherrard applied for letters of administration on the estate of Robert Sherrard, late of said county, deceased. Signed by M. Fulgham, C.C.O. Note that Joel Sherrard's daughter, Patience, married a Fulghum. Robert is related to Elizabeth, Wright, Joel and probably John and Benjamin also. Is he just another brother, uncle, or father. There is also a Sanders Sherrard. What was his relation? From other data, it would appear that Robert is Elizabeth's husband.
Elizabeth Sherrod (Sherrard)
H.P.(59) and Charlotte(51) now have only Bennie P.(22)and Rufus S.(20) at home.
Her household consist of : 1 male under 5, 1 female 15-20,and 1 female 50-60 (probably herself). Based on this, I haveextrapolated a birthdate for Elizabeth.
This date is extrapolated from a testament made in courtby Elijah Lawrence, husband of Julia Ann Sherrod(Sherrard) on1-25-1843.
Elizabeth is refered to as Sherod, Sherrod, or Sherrard invarious records. In Talbot Cty., Ga. on 25 Jan. 1843, Elijah MLaurence appeared before a magistrate (Wm. Holt Laurence -connection?) and claimed lot # 215/4 in Dooly Cty. saying that hiswife (an orphan), Julia Ann Sherrard, resided in Twiggs Cty. Ga., atthe time she drew this lot in the Land Lottery and she resided inTalbot Cty., Ga. when she drew and won lot # 944-3-3 in Cherokee Cty.,Ga.. Other records indicate lot 215/4 in Dooly Cty., Ga. was won byRobert Sherrard(Sherrod) an orphan residing with his mother, Elizabethin Twiggs Cty., Ga. at the time. From this we can reasonably deducethat this Julia Ann Sherrard is the daughter of Elizabeth Sherrard ofTwiggs Cty., Ga. and Robert was her brother. Furthermore, Elizabeth isnow dead. Laurence is also spelt Lawrence in the same document andrefering to the same person.
On the 1830 census, Elizabeth, Haywood, And Wright(Sherrard) Sherrod are all living relatively close together. There ismost likely a significant attachment here. I think Joel is alsoinvolved. I suspect that Haywood is the son of Wright. Joel and Wrightare brothers and Elizabeth was married to another brother nowdeceased.
Robert Sherrod (Sherrard)
Robert does not appear on the 1830 census with his motherso has apparently moved elsewhere. Dooly Cty. or Early perhaps as thatis where he and his mother won land. He may also be living with herand she is listed as head of the household in which case his namewould not appear on the census. He is on the 1840 census od TalbotCty. along with Wright and Haywood. Haywood is probably either Robertsbrother or the son of Wright.

Haywood Sherrard (Sherrod)
His family consists of : 1 male 5-10, 1 male 20-30(himself), 1 female under 5, and 1 female 20-30 (his wife probably). From this we can enfer birth and marrige dates.

Description: VA
Julia Ann Sherrod (Sherrard)
Description: when she won land in the 3rd Land Lottery
Description: according to a testament made in court by her husband on 1-25-1843
In 1840, Haywood, Robert, and Wright Sherrard (Sherrod) are all living in Talbot Cty., Ga. also as heads of families. Julia was an orphan early in the 1830's as indicated by her drawing land in the lotteries. It appears likely that she is sister to one of the aforementioned Sherrards. She was also in Twiggs Cty. at the same time as Wright. She could be his daughter if he died in the early 1830's. Joel was in only one county over in Pulaski Cty. at this time also. It possible she is his daughter.
West Sheffield
Living in Camden Co, GA bef 1815 apparently as he appears in their public records.
West was a Revolutionary Soldier and served as a Pvt from either Wayne Co. GA., or Duplin Co. NC. and was granted Land Bounty for his service. There are references for both. He is listed in the 1820 and 1830 Federal census of Wayne Co. GA.
From family records some children were born in Beaufort Co. South Carolina, a County that is located on the State line of Georgia and South Carolina, while some children are listed born in Wayne Co. It is doubtful that West kept moving across the State line. The children were probably born in Wayne Co., Since this is the location of where West and Susannah married and where West died. He probably never moved from the first location where he got his land patent.
Susannah (Ann) Sherrod
This time frame is chosen because we now her husband was born in 1747.
In some records Susannah is refered to as Ann. This could be a contraction of Susannah or her middle name.
