Gorm "The Old" Horda-Knutsson King of Denmark
Acceded the throne of Denmark in 899.
Gorm lived at Jelling with his queen, Thyri of Jutland, whose runic memorial stone honors her as Danmarkar bot (Denmark's restorer) - a distinction which tradition attributes to Thyri's improvement of the great rampart, the Danevirke, along the southern frontier. The inscription reads: "King Gorm made this memorial to his wife Thyri, Denmark's restorer." Gorm was a traditional Viking and had a wooden burial chamber built in a large mound at Jelling. It was a double grave, doubtless for him and his wife. Connected with this mound, and still in existence (as of 1965), the Danish archaeologist Dyggve has traced a large triangular plot of ground framed by upright stones marking a consecrated place. It can be assumed that Gorm died sometime in the 940's; we know no more of him. One description of a marriage celebration, "thereupon he ordered the tables to be set out, and sent people all round in the neighborhood to invite plenty of guests; and the same day there was a good feast which was also Halfdan's marriage-feast with Ragnhild, who became a great queen. Ragnild's mother was Thorney, a daughter of Klakharald king in Jutland, and a sister of Thrye Dannebod who was married to the Danish king, Gorm the old, who the ruled over the Danish dominions." (Johannes Brøndsted, "The Vikings", pg. 74-75)

Thyra Haraldsdottir
Records indicate that she was married to some or all of the following: Styrbjørn of Sweden, Boleslav of Wendland, King Olav Trygveson of Norway. I have my doubts about several of them. What dates are available make it very unlikely.
