Doug, I have found your Sarah Ann Sherrod/Sherrard and John Curtis Clower. Sarah is the daughter of Benjamin Sherrod/Sherrard and Rachael Fowler Alford. Benjamin was born abt 1805 in Georgia married June 30, 1825 in Lawrence Co., MS and died 1835 in Holmes County, MS. Rachael Fowler Alford was born Dec. 5, 1810 in Pulaski County, Ga., and died Nov. 16, 1886 in Titus Co., TX. Please e-mail me at jcross4@netdoor.com

Have more info Know. Rachael(Rachel)Fowler Alford.( The daughter of Fort Alford B c1785.)Married Peyton L. Clower the older brother of John Curtis Clower and move to Tx. This is a interesting line. Posted by Kimberly Hunt to the Sherrod Family Genealogy Forum: I have a Virgil Sherrod married to a Minnie. I know they had a daughter Geneva b May 5, 1896 in Ken. I do not know if this is a connection or not. I have been having great difficulty in finding anyone in this line.

I have decided to connect John with Noah as his father because 1) his son is named Noah & 2) there are no other Sherrods in the county and people tended to stay with relatives & 3) the ages are in the ball park.

Mary Sherrod
Martha Cowey Palanovich as posted to the Sherrod Family Genealogy Forum:
I'm searching for info on my gr-gr-grandmother Mary Sherrod b. abt 1805 (in NC?), d. abt 1850 and will proved in Martin County, NC. Married to Charles Wm. Cowey b. 1777 & d. 1841 - both in Martin County, NC. Charles Wm. was married before, but Mary Sherrod's children - from family Bible - are: Joseph b. 7/9/1830; Wm Wilson b. 12/27/1831; Robert Turner b. 8/15/1833; Charles Wm b. 9/18/1836; Needham Christopher 12/20/1837; James Henry b. 1/9/1840; Susan Temperance b. abt 1841.
Wm. Wilson & James Henry are not named in Mary's will, so assume they had died. Susan Temperance was left in the care of Mary's sister Mrs. Needham Hyman - perhaps named Elizabeth? (It turns out that Temperance Sherrod married Needham Hyman in Martin Co, NC in 1817 and Mary's daughter's name is Susan Temperance. Too much coincedence, I think. Temperance must ne Mary's sister.)
Who are Mary's parents? Son Charles Wm is my gr-grandfather - he had a half-brother by the same name who died in 1836, so when he was born that year he was named C.W. for him. (Before the family Bible info, there was some confusion because there was another Charles Wm. b. that year. He was the son of the dead C.W, born 7 months after his father died - named in his grandfather's will in 1841.)
OBSERVATIONS: In Phil Sherrod's book about the Sherrods, there is a Charles W. Sherrod, b. 11/23/1841 to John Llewellyn Sherrod & Lucinda Weathersbee. Since the birthdate is only a few days after the death of Mary's husband Charles Wm., assumption is that he was named for him. Also, John Llewellyn was b. 1804 & Mary was b. abt 1805, judging from her will. Were they siblings, children of Salathiel Sherrod? Or were they cousins?? HELP!

MCLEAN - Loyce Sherrod, 72, died Sunday, March 26, 2000.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in McLean United Methodist Church
with the Rev. Thacker Haynes officiating. Burial will be in Alanreed
Cemetery at Alanreed by Schooler Armstrong Chapel, 123 Second St.,
Claude.
Mrs. Sherrod was born in McLean. She was a member of McLean United
Methodist Church and treasurer of both United Methodist Women and
Hillcrest Cemetery Organization.
She married Bob Sherrod in 1947 at McLean.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Joe Bill Sherrod of Amarillo; a
daughter, Cindy Bichsel of Claude; two sisters, Ruth Hindman and Opal
Bodenhammer, both of Longview; and three grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to the Endowment Fund of the McLean
United Methodist Church.
