Lend land known as Staghead, to branch dividing land owned hy heirs of ARTHUR STATON, dec'd and myself, still and cider utensils, household and kitchen furniture, 2 negroes. At wife's death all to be divided equally. Son: LAWRENCE, all notes I hold against him, also money for upkeep. Son & Exr: JAMES, $5 in addition to that already given him. Daus: MERINA BEMBREY, $25 in addition to that already given her; NANCY SOUTHERLAND, $100 in addition to that already given her. MAYO, for her lifetime, May Ct. 1825. Accounts of sales held March 22 and July 26. 1825, Aug. Ct. 1825. Account of hire of negroes from Man 22, 1826 to Jan. 2, 1827 and also for the year 1827 by JAS. MAYO, exr., Feb. Ct. 1827. Account current with the exr. included many notes due the estate. Audit and settlement of account, May Ct. 1827. Account current in which a legacy was paid to LAWRENCE MAYO and a large account to ARTHUR S. COTTON in right of his wife,LOUISA Feb. Ct. 1829. Account current with JAS. MAYO exr. NANCY S. D. MAYO was guardian to the orphans, Feb. Ct. 1829. Allotment of negroes and money to the children who have not received their two thousand dollars, to wit, SALLY ELIZA MAYO, BENJ. C. MAYO, MARTHA C. Salathiel was in Carroll Co, Tn from 1827-44. Carroll Co Court Minutes first appears on Contempt of Court, one dollar fine. Gibson Co was Salathiel Sherrod Jr who married Hannah Haynes. TJ was the son of Richard Sherrod and Mildred Milly Haynes. TJ moved to Ar 1859, back in Desoto Co, MS in 1861. Robert 1857 Ar, John 1864 MS, William Thomas 1866 Ms, Elizabeth E 1870 Ar, Turner James Jr 1871 Ar.

According to a letter written by Adeline Standifer Sherrod to her daughter Florence: John L's father died when he was 6 or 7. Moved to North Carolina when he was young, possibly was on the Roanoake River. Mother remarried a man by the name of Hinds.

Listed in 1850 Harrison Co. Census page 60 with parents. Listed as A. Sherrod age 12 born MS. Listed in Harrison Co., TX early marriage records. Name in the marriage records was Alexander. Marriage certificate on file Harrison Co. Courthouse Bk 4, page 57. Marriage was listed in The Texas Republican page 12. Name was listed as Alamanda. Adeline Sherrod referred to her as Alley in her letter to her daughter Florence.

Census as single, age 38 born TX. Listed in Sherrod Cemetery records. Marriage from Lee Bartos. Republic of Texas archives say that Charles served in the Civil War.
